Substations are the control hub between the plant and the grid—and therefore a key success factor for utility-scale battery storage projects (BESS). This is exactly where we bring our expertise together: we design and deliver medium- and high-voltage substations so that grid operator requirements, technical design, and execution work seamlessly hand in hand.
Concept and design phase
In the concept and design phase, we define the substation architecture to match your project: switchgear bay concept, transformer configuration, primary equipment, as well as cable and line routing. Depending on the grid connection case and site conditions, this results in a solution designed for operational reliability, maintainability, and clear interfaces to the overall plant—including the storage system, power electronics, and protection concept.
In parallel, we manage the technical coordination process and provide the required documentation for approvals, inspections, and subsequent acceptance. The goal is to validate key decisions early and reduce planning and execution risks throughout the project.
Implementation
During implementation, we coordinate and execute the key steps: construction and installation, cabling, testing, as well as acceptance and commissioning processes in coordination with the grid operator. For delivery, we draw on more than 550 medium- and high-voltage technicians and 150 installers across Germany.
The result is a substation delivered exactly to your project requirements—technically sound in its planning, efficiently implemented, and prepared for safe grid operation.
